TRIZONIA
In a 1947 move intended to accelerate recovery and improve governance in western occupied Germany, the American and British occupation zones underwent an economic and administrative merger, creating Bizonia.
After the initial shock of the Berlin Blockade in 1948 and the resulting success of the Berlin Airlift, the French joined their anglophone allies, creating Trizonia in 1949.
This would become the foundation of what would become the Federal Republic of Germany, better known as West Germany, just a few months later.
